About the Author and Publisher

Who is Pat Howey?

The author has been involved in the special education field for over 40 years. She began by advocating for her own child, then acting as an advocate for others. She has assisted families at school IEP and 504 ,meetings, represented a family in the first special education mediation held in Indiana, and represented families in due process hearings. Pat has a B.A. in Paralegal Studies from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana and a Master of Jurisprudence with a concentration in special education advocacy from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX.

She is currently employed as a paralegal in the Education Division of the Connell Michael Law Firm in Carmel, Indiana. A long-time Wrightslaw presenter, the author is an Indiana Registered Paralegal and an affiliate member of the Indiana and American Bar Associations.
